New Stone Carving Courses for summer '08

This year I have set up a number of stone carving courses to run throughout the year from Lower Micklin Farm in Staffordshire.

It's a beautful part of the countryside and promises to be a great location for a creative course in sulpting and carving stone.

If you want to know more about the course please visit http://www.sculptingstone.co.uk/

5 latest sculptures at Banks' Mill

Five of my most recent sculptures went into Banks' Mill studio on Monday ready for the Open Exhibition 27th, 28th and 29th June 2008.
I am sharing exhibition room 0.2 with the fine art painter Emma Simcock-Tooth who produces fantastic 'hyperrealist oil portraiture'.

Art for Business

In April two of my sculptures, Continuum and Artficial Life Form 1, were put on display at the Erewash Partnership Seminar and Business Exhibition.

They were very well received by the organisers and attendees and we received a lot of great feedback about them. It has prompted us now to consider a sculpture rental service. More on this will be posted if we go ahead with it.

Latest - Hoptonwood Limestone

In this latest piece I have tried to strip back on the form as much as possible and still make the same level of impact

Hoptonwood Mobius

This latest sculpture which I have just finished today is carved from local limestone I managed to source: Hoptonwood limestone from Derbyshire. The design is an extension of the mobius loop principle by further twisting the whole loop over on itself. Difficult to explain - have a look.

Re-coil

Here is a picture of a sculpture that I did many months ago - It was one of my earlier completed sculptures and didn't feel quite right. I have since re-worked it by cutting a section (curve) out of the side and redusing the weight inside the coil. The stone is Ancaster limestone, nice to work.
